Services & Fees
Elder Roots consultations are deliberately thorough and individualised. Fees reflect not only the time spent with you during the appointment, but also the clinical review, research, safety checking, treatment planning, record keeping and herbal formulation that takes place around it.
I offer standard and concessionary fees, with longer appointments available for medically complex cases. Herbal medicines are charged separately where prescribed, and you will always know the likely costs before treatment goes ahead.
You do not need to decide which consultation type you need before contacting me. If you are unsure, send a brief enquiry and I will advise on the most appropriate starting point.

Home visits
Home visits may be available where travelling to an appointment would be difficult or where seeing you in your own environment would be particularly appropriate.
Local home visit supplement — £30
Extended-distance home visit supplement — £50
The home-visit charge is added to the relevant consultation fee and reflects additional travelling time and costs.
Availability depends on location, travel time and the circumstances of the individual case. Elder Roots does not operate from a permanent public clinic, so appointments are otherwise normally arranged online or, where appropriate, at an agreed temporary venue.
Six-month Care Pathways
For some longer-term health concerns, one consultation is rarely the whole answer. Elder Roots Care Pathways provide a structured six months of consultations and shorter check-ins, allowing treatment to be reviewed and adjusted as things change.
Current care pathways include:
Fibromyalgia & Persistent Pain
Thyroid & Metabolic Health
Nervous System & Burnout
Standard pathway — £520 paid in full
or 6 monthly payments of £90 — £540 total
Concessionary pathway — £360 paid in full
or 6 monthly payments of £60 — £360 total
Herbal medicines are charged separately where prescribed.
The pathways are intended for people who would benefit from continuity and regular review rather than isolated appointments. The exact structure is adapted to the individual and may include full consultations alongside shorter check-ins across the six-month period.
If you think your health and well-being could do with this type of structure, drop me a message.
Herbal medicines and dispensing costs
Herbal medicines are charged separately from consultation fees and are only supplied where clinically appropriate.
Herbal tinctures — £12 per 100 ml
A typical monthly tincture prescription is around 420 ml. This is charged as four 100 ml units, so the usual cost is £48, with the additional 20 ml supplied without extra charge.
Dried herbal tea — £15 per 100 g
Around a third of patients may also be prescribed a dried herbal tea alongside their tincture. Where this is appropriate, a typical combined monthly medicine cost is therefore around £63.
There is no separate dispensing administration fee following a paid consultation.
The first standard UK postage following a consultation is included. Where a clinically stable repeat prescription is supplied without a full consultation, standard UK postage is £6.
Stable repeat prescriptions may, where appropriate, continue for up to four months without a full consultation, provided there has been no significant change in symptoms, medicines, diagnosis or circumstances that would require clinical reassessment.
Elder Roots currently dispenses tinctures and dried herbs. Capsules and powders are not routinely supplied, and medicines are not dispensed internationally.
Additional clinical and administrative charges
Many straightforward administrative matters are included as part of normal care and do not attract an additional charge.
Simple administrative query — no charge
Where additional clinical judgement or practitioner time is required between consultations, the following charges may apply:
Minor clinical query — £15
For a short clinical question requiring review of your record and a brief professional response.
Mini consultation — £35
For an issue requiring more discussion or clinical review than can reasonably be handled as a brief message, but which does not require a full follow-up consultation.
Minor prescription adjustment — £10
Moderate prescription adjustment — £20
Where a significant change in symptoms, diagnosis, medication or circumstances requires substantial reassessment, a normal follow-up consultation may be needed rather than an interim adjustment.
Brief clinical letter — £25
Clinical report — usually £50–£90, depending on the work involved.
More complex reports, correspondence or other substantial professional work will be discussed and agreed in advance.
Payment and concessions
Payment is currently by bank transfer.
Concessionary fees are available for people receiving means-tested benefits, students, people on low income, or suffering financial hardship. If you are unsure whether the concessionary rate applies to you, this can be discussed before booking.
Where a consultation, pathway, report or other piece of professional work carries a fee, the cost will be explained in advance so that you can decide whether you wish to proceed.
There are no hidden dispensing administration charges after a paid consultation, and the first standard UK postage following that consultation is included.
Not sure where to start?
You do not need to work out which consultation, pathway or type of support is most appropriate before getting in touch.
Send me a brief enquiry explaining what you would like help with, and I will advise on the most suitable next step and the likely costs before anything is booked.
